OSTEOPATHY for ALL

Who do we treat?

Osteopathy can benefit people of all ages.  Each patient is assessed as an individual and treatment is designed to suit personal needs and lifestyle.

What do we treat?

Osteopathy is best known for the treatment of back pain and neck ache. This is only one facet of the range of conditions we treat.  Many joint and muscle problems respond well to osteopathic treatment.  Other less well known conditions that also benefit from osteopathy include arthritic pain, muscle spasms, whiplash, sciatica, inability to relax, minor sports injuries and joint pains.  Conditions may arise from reduced mobility or postural problems from pregnancy, driving or work.  Advice can be given to help improve your posture.

Osteopathy may help you - please enquire.

How do we treat?

An Osteopath assesses the mobility and flexibility of your body and diagnoses muscle strengths and weaknesses.  A thorough assessment of your muscles and joints screens for underlying problems which may be causing your pain.

Treatment involves correcting muscle imbalances and improving joint mobility so that your body moves and functions as well as possible.  Hands-on techniques are used to massage and stretch tight muscles and mobilise and manipulate joints to rebalance your body movements.  You will be required to undress to your underwear for examination and treatment.

Deborah practices structural osteopathy focusing on movement patterns in joints and assessment of muscle tone.  Structural osteopathy identifies and treats imbalances that restrict movement.

Deborah is also trained in Cranial Osteopathy which uses very gentle techniques to release stresses and tensions in the body and is particularly useful with babies and young children. Deborah uses Medical Acupuncture alongside osteopathy after training with the British Medical Acupuncture Society which trains medical practitioners to use acupuncture alongside their main discipline.  Acupuncture is helpful for pain reduction.

What do we advise?

Emphasis is put on prevention and rehabilitation to prevent reoccurrence and to strengthen the body after injury. Lifestyle advice, e.g. ergonomics, exercise, posture, is given to reduce risk factors and improve general health.
